Finished editing and uploading photos from Battersea Power Station
Only went there last year
It’s good to have them finished. I’m quite pleased with some of them.

which has been greatly neglected for pretty much the whole time I’ve been working. Had a wander around the collections though and posted a couple of things. Must do more of this

From this recipe. They came out pretty well, especially considering that I’m sick and also haven’t baked anything in months.

Haven’t been able to face carrying anything heavier around this
week!

I’ve been feeling the need lately for a bit of a grand gesture – sweeping movements, letting out the tension I’ve accumulated. And boy, has there been a lot of tension. So tonight, I pulled myself together and did a bit of drawing, the first I’ve done in months and months. It wasn’t very good, but it’s made me feel a bit better. Charcoal and a big bit of paper always does. First I drew this week’s weekly drawing task from wetcanvas.com, a lightbulb and shadow. It wasn’t very good and I won’t be posting it anywhere. Then I draw a portrait of Jacques-Etienne Camembear (teddy) sitting staring at the ceiling in the bed. Likewise, it wasn’t terribly good, but better than the lightbulb and he’s such a good patient subject. Might try and do some more drawing tomorrow. I’ve really missed it.

Finally pulled out the copy of Simon Schama’s book of The Power of Art which a friend gave me for Christmas and of course started at the end with Rothko, who has become one of my all-time favourite artists. Magnificent stuff

My lovely double CD of his choral music. Glorious stuff. Also a bit of Barber and Copland choral music, but I think it’s the Poulenc I need right now.

This one was about creative support – who supports you, how you can support yourself, what sort of support you actually need. Interesting stuff, but I think I need to re-read it. Support has always been a difficult issue for me. Not because nobody’s believed in me, but because I haven’t always received support in the way I’ve needed it and I find it hard to ask. I also do often end up being other people’s support and not giving myself the support I need to achieve what I want. I know it’s only been a few days since reading the micromovements chapter, but I did mostly read that one a while back and have been using micromovements with a fair bit of success for several weeks now. That technique’s definitely a keeper!

from the SLR film shots I took in Sydney. I really can’t get the colour right on the scans. So very annoying, but I posted them anyway. Will replace them if I can ever get it right.

Still catching up with Tate, Etc. Been long, long days at work, but at least I have the train-ride home
