The original files got corrupted a couple of years back, so all I have are Finale files just of the notes, a PDF that doesn’t quite match what’s in the Finale files, and scans of a printed version which my lovely mother found in a filing cabinet. From this I am piecing together the score again so I can send it off to a singer who’s interested in trying it out.

She was having some trouble with an MP3 player made in Flash which wasn’t behaving, so I tinkered about in the code a bit, hunting for the reason.

I was going to do the next bit of the long walk out of the first volume of Time Out London Walks but to do that I’d have had to go to Piccadilly Circus and quite frankly, I couldn’t be bothered changing trains. So I hopped out at Westminster and walked back to Victoria, then went to the library.

And to good effect! Tried out avocado with my brown rice at lunchtime, which made it much more palatable, and for dinner experimented with a turkey bolognaise sauce, which actually worked very well. Yay!

Spring has been springing upon us early, so I went for a lovely long walk in the park today, where I came upon numerous trees surrounded by carpets of purple and white flowers (some sort of bulb. I can’t be more specific than that). Not a great drawing, but it was nice to just take the time to do it.

Again, with no particularly grand outcome, but notes written down is good. I’ve decided to focus for a bit on ideas generation for a bit and see if I can’t get myself routinely coming up with new stuff rather than struggling to find any combination of notes that sounds even acceptable. Hopefully that might take some of the pressure off too. Kind of like dashing off a quick but regular drawing and not worrying too much about what it looks like because nobody else is going to see it

I missed out on getting a proper Moleskine diary this year so, rather than make do with a lesser model (and they’re all pretty lesser by now, seeing as it’s nearly March) I decided to make my own, so I’ve planned the page layout and have been looking through the DIY Planner templates to see what additional forms I may need to add in.

I had to work out some sort of collage to cover the back of the Stonehenge page which bled through quite badly, and particularly where the surface of the paper had torn. And I had to unwrap my new Moleskines, so decided to use the insert which shows all the different types of notebooks and the wraps from my new softcover plain (the wrap is green) and tiny volant (white with multicoloured stripes) books and make a collage from these. A tribute, if you will, to the cult of Moleskine

Yeah, well, it was neither exciting nor particularly well executed (so won’t be posting it) but I was bored while waiting for djelibeybi to finish his phone call in Staples and the label intrigued me, saying as it did "BOX CERTIFICATE THIS DOUBLE WALL" which I took to be mangled English until I realised that in spite of the gap beneath these words, they actually joined on to the next bit of text which read "box meets all construction requirements of applicable freight classification". Anyway, I drew something at any rate.

And actually wrote something that might turn out to be worthwhile!!! I had been about to give up because I’d doodled some stuff I’d quite liked and then discovered that Finale had frozen again (why? why??) but decided not to abandon ship and instead pulled out my manuscript and doodled some more and then wrote stuff down. First time in… oh ages and ages. Months, in fact. Yay!
