Video evening in

Another birthday treat – there wasn’t going to be anyone to do anything with, so I figured I’d treat myself to a proper video night. I went out to get a takeaway pizza from our local shop, which has just been taken over by new people – and they gave me a free coffee, a little biscuit and a mini KitKat while I waited! AND it was a great pizza when it came. And the bear had given me Quantum of Solace on DVD, so everything was set :-)

Went and saw the Rodchenko/Popova constructivist exhibition

at Tate Modern as a little birthday treat to myself. Interesting. Now I want to do things with lines!

Went for a walk

Uh… yeah. Not spectacular, I know, but it helped, not least with providing cornflakes for breakfast.

Finished the leg of my sock

Yay! Still ended up doing a fair bit of unknitting and reknitting, but the leg is done now. I’m not entirely convinced it shouldn’t have been done on 3mm needles, but I’ll see how the foot gets on. Resigning myself to the understanding that I still may have to rip it all back, but still… yay! Leg done!

Made good progress on the sock

The first Monkey is now more than halfway down the leg – on the 5th repeat – woo! True, I did spend about 2 hours unknitting and reknitting and unknitting again until I solved an earlier problem, but since then it’s been pretty plain sailing. It’s looking good!

Baked a cake

For no particular reason other than that I felt like it. Turned out well too. I guess it’s kind of a trial run for a birthday cake. Not that there’ll be anyone to share it with :-(

Read the first three chapters of “Designing for the Social Web”

Wow what a start! Looking like a great book, and very useful indeed for the super-secret project.

Set up RescueTime

To help me keep track of how much time I’m spending on what during the day. I suspect I’m losing a lot of time to things like Twitter and should trim back the amount of time I even have it open, or turn off notifications or something. We’ll see what RescueTime shows up, I guess!

Made a good start on the Monkey socks

The “Indian Summer” colourway is knitting up quite beautifully. I wasn’t sure in the ribbing, but in the main lace it’s lovely. I’ve now finished the ribbing and am nearly halfway through the second repeat (of 6) for the leg.

Weekly review done

Late, and a bit of a mess – there’s a ton of stuff left undone from setting up the system, but my head’s been too poorly to tackle it all – but at least I’ve sorted through all the stuff lying about in my system and cleared my head again (not that it wasn’t pretty empty already except for the fluff) and that feels better. I am going to try to implement the “one thing a day” approach this week, to try to get me back on the straight and narrow.
