Two days early , I know – but otherwise it would have been four days late.

This may not sound like much, but I’m not really a JS guru, but I’m working with a bunch of them at the moment, so when I work something out and save a nanosecond with a code streamline, I think I ought to note it down.

So I’m now done with the St Malo photos at last – and a couple in there that I’m very pleased with indeed.

I’m very, very behind in getting all the photos from this year’s various events up online, so this is at least a bit of a step forward.

No, not literally! The latest issue of Creative Review is dedicated to creative workspaces, which is something that fascinates me, so indulged and have subsequently consumed. Mmmm.

I’ve had this vague idea for the orchestral piece kicking around my head for a few days. Title to be ‘Fear of Falling’ and thinking along the lines of quarter-tone falling glisses (if a quarter-tone slide counts as an actual gliss) in the flutes. Anyway, this evening I managed to get down an idea for how to start it and the basic structure of the piece. It’s still not actual notes, and I don’t know how it will pull together, but it’s a concrete idea and I think could be effective and interesting for the performers. Now trying to get inspiration for the actual sound of the thing. Listening to Gorecki’s Symphony No. 3.

which I think might work well as a short orchestral piece. Isn’t that convenient? Still need to do some actual work on it, but ideas are a good starting point.

then coffee with another friend. Good conversation, and nice to be out and about on such a glorious autumnal day. Now at home and snugging in – just watched The Thin Man. Not sure what’s next.

After having sprained my ankle badly on Tuesday and struggling through the rest of the week, I took today off and slept in, then spent most of what was left watching movies and playing computer games (The Settlers, first on my iPod, then on the computer after the iPod ran out of power)
